New Destiny Fellowship’s mission is to be, pray, speak and do for others so that they may receive for themselves life, order and direction.
New Destiny Fellowship’s history is a rich one, which spans over 30 years. In 1980, Apostle, then Pastor, Thomas Wesley Weeks, Sr. came to Delaware by way of Boston, MA.
New Destiny Fellowship, formerly Greater Bethel Apostolic Temple, first opened its doors on May 4, 1980 at the Radisson Hotel (now Doubletree Hotel) in Wilmington’s downtown. Apostle Weeks and his beautiful wife Leona, and their two sons, Thomas, Jr. and Abdullah Azeez were the first official members. From the Radisson, the church moved to the Odd Fellows Hall Auditorium on 34th Street, where God continued to bless and anoint the services. On December 28, 1980, the church was able to secure a small building at 504 East 11th Street, located on the Eastside of Wilmington. The new building represented a place of accomplishment and permanency. The church had begun to flourish and boom with activity. Our Reachout Ministry, which was conducted through TV and radio broadcasts, had become successful. The church had outgrown its membership and its countless visitors. Souls were saved, wounds were healed and lives were changed.
In 1982, the time came for the church to move into a beautiful white and brick Colonial-style edifice at 29th and Van Buren Streets on the North side of Wilmington with seating for 600. During the next ten years, the Lord allowed the church to host some of the world’s most renowned preachers and teachers while yet growing in faith, family and love. The vision continued on with Greater Bethel Apostolic Temple changing its name and becoming “New Destiny Fellowship.” New Destiny Fellowship continued to grow in stature, to increase their presence and support in the community, to support groundbreaking conferences and initiatives; but most importantly, the Lord continued to use the church to win souls to Him.
In October 2005, the church celebrated as we moved into a large, newly renovated building at 906 East 16th Street. This new location was achieved through the hard work, prayer and negotiation made with the city by our leader. The membership contributed on various levels with committees and hands-on work to help secure our new location. We remain enthusiastic and hopeful for the future to come. As the Lord continues to guide our Pastor, Apostle Thomas Wesley Weeks, Sr. and Dr. Leona Brown-Weeks, we will continue to move forward towards our New Destiny – A New Day and a New Destiny!
NDF has some of the kindest, caring, God loving people I know. They embraced me when I first started coming back in 2002 and never stopped when I left in 2010. I love Apostle Weeks and Dr. Weeks and trust them with my heart and soul. The worship is high, the teaching is biblically grounded and there is more than enough love to go around. NDF will always be my family.
Such a powerful cooperate prayer as well as praise and worship. The spirit of the Lord was surely in the house. The Word of God from the anointed woman of God, Mamie Gamble , hit the target, went out to people and will not return to our LORD void. Praising God and thankful that I was able to eat from the table that He prepared.
The best church around, in my opinion. I love the church and the people in it. There is something for everyone at NDF. From the young saints to our seasoned saints.
